TEAM LEADER.....Kathleen Miller
Kathy and Lady are 1 of 11 Nurse/Rehabilitation Support Dog teams in the United States. After 760 hrs of training over 2 yrs in May of 2002 they received their Rehabilitation Support Dog Team certification. Kathy's dedication to the project was born after reading about the "Eden Alternative", www.edenalt.com, which creates habitats for people who work and live in long term care facilities.After logging over 18,000 hrs as a Nurse/ Rehabilitation Support Dog team, numerous therapy and outstanding service awards, working with teens with severe learning and physical disabilities, aiding elementary age children with social disabilities, collaborating on an early readers series to educate children about Working Dogs, Kathy and Lady appear at schools, libraries, and special events  encouraging children and adults to participate in Therapy Dog programs.

Les, Kathy's Husband and strongest supporter, specializes in handling techniques working with the dogs to make sure that they accept the friendly touch of a stranger, allow grooming, and that the trips to the veterinarian are pleasant and productive. He also makes sure Kathy and the dogs make it
to all their destinations!

  She was found, part of a feral dog pack, wandering the  streets of Lynchburg Virginia. After seeing her picture and story on Petfinders.com,  Kathy and Les drove 300 miles to retrieve her from the Humane Society. 
She now is Les' Seizure Alert dog, having demonstrated the ability to give Les up to 20 minutes warning before the onset of a seizure .
Multi book author... Chris Williams,
was inspired to write the
"One Incredible Dog" series after learning about the courageous actions of dogs bringing comfort and healing, searching through tons of wreckage, helping those involved in the recovery after the attacks on 9-11.  Look for his book series,  "One Incredible Dog!
